Almost 88,5 % of foreign capital in the region was invested in industry and mainly in the following branches: industrial processing (83.1%) and energy supply.
Foreign direct investments in the region are characterised by the biggest share of investments from USA (44,1%). Investments of European companies constitute half of the total amount of FDI and most of them are made by Austrian and German investors.
Mielec district managed to attract the biggest Mount of FDI and Rzeszów as well as Dębica district are on the second place. Five districts of Podkarpackie region i.e. Mielec (17,4%), Rzeszów (16,8%), Dębica (13,5%), Leżajsk (10,5%) and Jarosław (8,4%) that are inhabited by 30 % Podkarpackie region population, attracted 70 % of FDI.
The Kronospan Group from Austria is the biggest foreign investor in the region and its investment exceeded 350 mln USD which constitute 11,2% of total FDI value in the region. Goodyear investments equals to 240 million USD and another company from USA United Technologies Corporation (UTC) invested 150 million USD.

The dominating branch in which FDI are located in the region is industry and the company which is the biggest investor among companies from trade and services sector i.e Tesco Plc. is on the 18th place on the list of major foreign investors in Podkarpackie region.
